Cadastres - Béziers (1300-1800)

  • Registers of compoix (1398-1790), conserved at the communal Archives of the city of Béziers.

During the Ancien regime, to ensure an equitable distribution of royal taxes, cadastres were established (estimates of things, furniture and buildings to establish the tax).
The cadastres of Béziers (1398-1790) are known under the name of Compoix and include about 21 400 records.
Each records consists of the last name, first names, village (Béziers), the rating of the register, folios (pagination) and observations.(pagination) and observations.
